"If we sat in a circle and put an object in the center of the circle and we all described what we saw, everyone would see different points of views from each other. Some would even see opposites because they would be sitting on opposite sides of the circle. In other words, you don't have to see what I see for you to be right. In fact, everyone in the circle is right based on their own point of view. If we are willing to listen to everyone's point of view, then we can get a more accurate description of the object in the center. This is one way to put our minds together. When we get the clarity from each other, we should give thanks and be grateful to each other."

OK, first off, let's get all that Hollywood junk out of your mind. No, we don't wear pointy black hats and fly on brooms. (And yes, people always ask me that... *sigh*) Second, if you were brought up Christian, get rid of all those myths as well. We don't worship the devil, sacrifice babies and drink their blood, or any of that stuff. Oh yeah, we also don't stir a huge cauldron adding "an eye of newt, a wing from a bat..." etc, etc and cast spells on people. We do practice magick, but that's another topic...
I've included two very good articles on Wicca on the Magick page, but I'm gonna try and explain things in my own words as well... Ok, here goes!
Wicca (also known as Witchcraft) is a very ancient tradition based on the love for nature. It is a pagan (earth) religion, thus it observes the cycle of seasons and the forces of nature. Although there is some argument as to the origin of Wicca today, it is founded on the tradition that far surpasses history. In the ancient days, people were close to nature. They looked to the heavens for daily direction, and observed the changing of the seasons. Today, especially with all the big cities, science and technology, we tend to forget the basics of life. We no longer tend to the Earth, and observe Nature. We have lost touch. Wicca celebrates these forces of nature.
Wicca has many deities, though each is just a part of the Great Deity. There are many traditions to Wicca, but I say all of them celebrate the Goddess in Her three forms. We see the Mother as the bringer of life. It is from Her womb, that life is created and begins. Also depending on the tradition, we celebrate the Horned God.
There aren't any "laws" in Wicca like in Christianity. But most Wiccans (or witches) will agree that the main tenets are that of the Rede and the Threefold Law: "An ye harm none, do what ye will" and that whatever is sent out, will return threefold (or many many times more!). Now, what does "an ye harm none, do what ye will" mean? Basically, as a witch, we do not believe in causing harm to anybody, thing, or even ourselves. That includes physically, emotionally, psychologically, etc. So those movies/myths of cursing people and even turning them to frogs? Not a chance! And then, just to add more "oomph" to it, whatever evergy, intent, or magick we throw out, it will return to us manyfold. So if it's bad, it's gonna return horrific!
Wiccans don't believe that it is the "One Way". We believe that every belief is beautiful and just a different path to Deity. We don't believe in the Christian's original sin, either. Which means we don't believe in Heaven and Hell, thus no devil worship.
OK, that's a really watered down, short summary of what Wicca means to me. You'd prolly wanna read the articles I've included for a better explanation since I'm pretty sure I didn't do a good job. lol (Hey! I tried...!) But if you any questions, fell free to contact me! Also, check out the links as some of them are great places to learn more about Wicca.
